Financial advisers have a tendency to ‘talk-up’ the market. According to a poll taken by the Sunday Times the ‘consensus’ view of fund managers for the last 6 years has been for the FTSE 100 to go up each year. In fact the FTSE 100 has fallen 3 out of 6 years. So their bullish consensus forecast has been wrong 50% of the time.
